His grandfather is former Soviet coaching legend, Viktor Tikhonov and his father was an assistant coach with the San Jose Sharks. Viktor Jr. holds both an American and Russian passport.
Won a bronze medal with Russia at the 2008 World Junior Championships and was named as the Best Forward and to the All-Star team after scoring five goals (5-2--7) in seven games.
