FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 3, 2012
FLAGSTAFF --- The Phoenix Coyotes today announced that on Saturday, April 7, various members of the Coyotes Hockey Development Staff will partner with the USA Hockey ADM program to put on a clinic in Flagstaff at the Jay Lively Ice Arena.
This will be the second of two American Development Model clinics the Coyotes will run in association with USA Hockey’s ADM staff. The first, at Jobing.com Arena on December 10, 2011, allowed volunteer coaches and youth hockey directors to gain insight into advanced coaching methods and also see coaching practices in action through a series of demonstrations.
The goal of the model is to encourage high tempo, high activity for a full 60 minutes, and avoid the lulls that youth hockey practices so often entail. Common things in a youth hockey practice like waiting in lines, watching your peers and getting nervous as your turn approaches are avoided in the up tempo environment of an ADM style practice.
The Flagstaff clinic will introduce youth hockey coaches and players of Northern Arizona to the model with a hands-on approach and will include participants in the Mite, Squirt, Peewee, and Bantam age groups. The clinic will run from 9am-1pm, with a social event and age appropriate discussions following the on-ice portion.
