GLENDALE, ARIZONA – Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have recalled defensemen Michael Stone and David Rundblad as well as forwards Alexandre Bolduc and Andy Miele from the Portland Pirates, the Coyotes American Hockey League affiliate (AHL).
The 6-foot-3, 210-pound Stone has recorded 6-16-22 and 16 PIM in 31 games with the Portland Pirates this season. He leads the team in power-play goals (5), assists (11) and points (16). He also leads the team in shots (104) and is tied for the team lead in game-winning goals (3).
The 22-year-old native of Winnipeg, Manitoba played in 13 games for the Coyotes last season posting 1-2-3 in 13 games. He appeared in two games of the Western Conference Final during the 2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs. The defenseman also recorded 9-13-22 and 24 PIM in 51 games with Portland in 2011-12. Stone was originally drafted by the Coyotes in the third round (69th overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
The 6-foot-2, 195-pound Rundblad has recorded 6-17-23 and 10 PIM in 32 games with Portland this season. He leads all defensemen on the team in scoring and has added 11 power-play points. (3-8-11).
The 21-year-old native of Lycksele, Sweden played in six games with the Coyotes last season recording 0-3-3. He also played in 24 games with the Ottawa Senators and posted 1-3-4 in 24 games. In 30 games with Portland in 2011-12, Rundblad recorded 7-9-16 and 27 PIM. Rundblad was originally drafted by the St. Louis Blues in the first round (17th overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
The 6-foot-3, 208-pound Bolduc leads Portland in scoring this season with 17-15-32 and 47 PIM in 34 games. The Pirates’ captain ranks 14th overall in AHL scoring.
The 27-year-old native of Montreal, Quebec played in two games for the Coyotes last season. He has played in 48 NHL games in his career with the Vancouver Canucks and Coyotes posting 2-3-5 and 40 PIM. Last season he also played in 23 games with Portland recording 3-12-15. Bolduc was originally drafted by the St. Louis Blues in the fourth round (127th overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
The 5-foot-9, 180-pound Miele ranks third on Portland in scoring this season with 11-15-26 and 41 PIM in 35 games. His 11 goals rank third on the team and his three game winners are tied for first.
The Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich., native played in seven games with the Coyotes last season. He led Portland in scoring in 2011-12 with 16-38-54 and 43 PIM in 69 games. He ranked ninth among all AHL rookies in scoring. The Coyotes originally signed Miele as a free agent on April 2, 2011.
