2012-13 Coyotes Prospects Report: 12/10/2012

AHL

The Portland Pirates, the Coyotes’ top affiliate in the American Hockey League, lost three of four games last week but still lead the Atlantic Division by six points.

Portland (24-15-1-1) will try to start a new winning streak this week with several key players – including Andy Miele, David Rundblad, Rob Klinkhammer - and newcomer Nick Johnson back from Coyotes training camp.

Team captain/leading scorer Alex Bolduc and defenseman Michael Stone remain with the Coyotes.

On Sunday, The Pirates took an early lead but were unable to hold on, falling to the Manchester 5-2..

Darian Dziurzynski and Brandon Gormley scored goals for the Pirates.

The night before, Connecticut defeated the Pirates at home, 4-1

Ethan Werek had the Pirates’ tally, as Connecticut scored three of its four goals on special teams.

Last Friday, the Pirates defeated Providence 3-2 via a thrilling seven-round shootout.

Dziurzynski scored both Pirates goals in regulation, and Jordan Szwarz had the game winner in the shootout after Chris Conner scored the tying shootout goal in the fifth round.

NOTE:

Dziurzynski, who scored two goals against Providence on Friday for his first career multi-point game, is on a three-game point streak.

ECHL

Four prospects are playing for the Gwinnett Gladiators:

• Goalie Mike Lee is 12-11-1 with a 2.13 goals-against average and a .918 save percentage.

• Goalie Louis Domingue is 12-4-0 with a 2.89 goals-against average and a .899 save percentage.

• Forward Scott Arnold has three goals and five assists in 10 games.

• Defenseman Justin Weller has one goal and three assists in 36 games.

Canadian Hockey League

Nine prospects are playing junior hockey for Canadian Hockey League teams:

• Forward Andrew Fritsch has 13 goals and 13 assists in 34 games for Sault Ste. Marie (OHL)

• Defenseman Justin Hache has four goals and 15 assists in 46 games for Cape Breton (QMJHL)

• Forward Kale Kessy has 11 goals and 11 assists in 37 games for Vancouver (WHL) and Kamloops (WHL)

• Forward Lucas Lessio (injured) has seven goals and six assists in 13 games for Oshawa (OHL)

• Defenseman James Melindy has three goals and 10 assists in 44 games for Moncton (QMJHL)

• Defenseman Connor Murphy (injured) has six goals and 12 assists in 33 games for Sarnia (OHL)

• Forward Henrik Samuelsson has 24 goals and 27 assists in 47 games for Edmonton (WHL)

• Forward Maxime Villemaire has two goals and one assist in six games for Saint John (QMJHL).

• Goalie Marek Langhamer is 9-9-1 with a 3.34 goals-against average and a .897 save percentage for Medicine Hat (WHL)

NCAA

• Forward Samuel "Hunter" Fejes has three goals and four assists in 25 games for Colorado College (WCHA)

• Defenseman Rhett Holland (injured) has played three games for Michigan State (CCHA)

• Forward Zac Larraza has six goals and seven assists in 22 games for University of Denver (WCHA)

KHL

• Forward Viktor Tikhonov has nine goals and 12 assists in 28 games for St. Petersburg.

European Elite Leagues

• Defenseman Jonas Ahnelov has two goals and five assists in 41 games for Modo (SWE)

• Forward Vladimir Ruzicka has four goals and 18 assists in 39 games for Slavia Praha (CZECH)

Finnish Leagues

• Forward Alexander Ruuttu has nine goals and 17 assists in 34 games for Kiekko-Vantaa (FIN D1) and has played four games for Jokerit (SM-liiga)

• Defenseman Niklas Tikkinen has three goals and 10 assists in 10 games for Espoo (Jr. A SM-liiga), six assists in 14 games for Espoo (SM-liiga), one goal and two assists in five games for HCK (Finland2), and three assists in two games for LeKi (Finland2).
