GLENDALE -- Coyotes center Matthew Lombardi is expected to be out of the lineup indefinitely after suffering an upper-body injury during the second period of Thursday night’s game vs. the San Jose Sharks.

Lombardi is being evaluated on Friday.

"He may be out for a significant amount of time," Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney said on Sirius XM NHL Radio.

Lombardi notched two assists in the first four games of the season after returning to the Coyotes via a trade with Toronto on Jan. 16.

Meanwhile, the Coyotes recalled forward Nick Johnson from the American Hockey League.
