GLENDALE – Training camp is finally over and it’s time for the regular season.

I’m excited to start my sixth year with the Coyotes and I'm looking forward to seeing all of our fans at Jobing.com Arena and all around North America this season.

I had a fun off-season but I’m so glad hockey season is starting again. It’s my favorite time of the year. Having said that, I did enjoy going to Wimbledon over the summer with my brother and one of our friends. It was definitely on my bucket list and something I won’t ever forget. It was fun to be part of one of the biggest sporting events in all of sports. The atmosphere was great and I got to watch some of the world’s elite tennis players – men and women – compete on a grand stage.

Our team had a very good training camp. Everybody got to know all of the new players, our new coach and even some of our new owners. It was a productive camp and we are ready for the season to get going. This is what we train for all summer. Now it starts for real and the time has come to get into the “game mindset” and into the grind.

I’m looking forward to the home opener on Thursday night. There’s always something special about the first game at home because it’s a new year and we have a new team. But it’s also a game that’s very tough to play. You have to prove that you’re ready to go.

After the first game we play our next five games on the road. I was asked today if I think this is a bad thing. I really don’t. Long road trips are just a part of playing in this league and we all love playing in this league so we just go with the flow.

I’m looking forward to playing on a line with Mike Ribeiro and Shane Doan. They are two unbelievable players and this is a big opportunity for me. It’s also a big opportunity for the team to have Mike Ribeiro come here and play here. I think the three of us will be good together. I suppose there will be some times when we’ll have to clean up some messes when we get too creative, but I think you’ll see us play real hard and real smart.

Well that’s all for now. Thanks for reading my first blog of the season. I look forward to writing more as the season goes along...
