The 2013-14 Coyotes' season was filled with a never-say-die attitude, exciting comebacks and victories that had fans on the edge of their seats up until the last day of the season.
With the Coyotes beginning preseason hockey in September, FOX Sports Arizona is set to showcase the Coyotes by replaying some of the best games from the 2013-14 season every Monday throughout August. Beginning Aug. 4, "Coyotes Classics" will give viewers the opportunity to relive some of the greatest memories from the 2013-14 season with announcers Matt McConnell and Tyson Nash as well as several members of the Coyotes organization.
The series begins with "Coyotes Classics: Opening Night" on Aug. 4. Below is the complete schedule, recaps and special guests for each game:
Aug. 4, 7 p.m. -- "Opening Night" (vs. Rangers, Oct. 3): Radim Vrbata scored a hat trick and Mike Smith made 23 saves to open up the 2013-14 season with a 4-1 win over the eventual Eastern Conference champion New York Rangers. Coyotes president, co-owner and CEO Anthony LeBlanc joins the broadcast to discuss the win.
Aug. 11, 7 p.m. -- "The Comeback" (vs. Oilers, Oct. 26): The Coyotes overcame two deficits and lost a two-goal lead on their way to an exciting, back-and-forth victory over the Edmonton Oilers. The Coyotes won 5-4 on a goal late in the third period from Oliver Ekman-Larsson. Coyotes general manager Don Maloney joins to talk about the wild win.
Aug. 18, 10:30 p.m. -- "Smith's goal" (vs. Red Wings, Oct. 19): The Coyotes erased an early 2-0 deficit and goalie Mike Smith scored a goal as time expired to complete the 5-2 comeback win over the Detroit Red Wings. Smith's goal was the first by a Coyotes goalie and 14th goal by a goalie in NHL history. Smith joins to reminisce about the game and his historic goal.
Aug. 25, 7 p.m. -- "Beat L.A." (at Kings, March 17): The Coyotes scored two quick goals but saw the 2-0 lead quickly disappear after the Los Angeles Kings scored three unanswered goals. The Coyotes were able to complete the comeback with goals in the third period by Keith Yandle and Jeff Halpern. Head coach Dave Tippett joins the broadcast to discuss the victory over the eventual Stanley Cup champions.
