“We are pleased to sign Andy to a one-year contract,” said Maloney. “For the past two seasons, Andy has led the Pirates in scoring and been a very effective player for us. We look forward to him continuing his development this season.”

In parts of two NHL seasons, the 5-foot-9, 180-pound Miele has appeared in eight games with the Coyotes. Last season, he recorded 19-34-53 and 72 penalty minutes (PIM) in 70 games with Portland (AHL). Miele led the Pirates in assists, points, and was third on the team in goals.

"I'm glad to be back with the Coyotes organization," said Miele. "I will continue to work hard and keep pursuing my dream of becoming an NHL player."

The 25-year-old native of Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich., made his NHL debut against the Anaheim Ducks on Oct. 23 during the 2011-12 season. He also registered 16-38-54 and 43 PIM in 69 games with Portland that season. He ranked first among all Pirates in assists and points.

Miele originally signed with the Coyotes as a free agent on Apr. 2, 2011.
