COYOTES RECALL ZIGOMANIS FROM SAN ANTONIO

GLENDALE, ARIZONA -- Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have recalled center Mike Zigomanis from San Antonio of the American Hockey League (AHL).  Left wing Matt Murley has been re-assigned to San Antonio
 
Zigomanis, 27, has recorded 2-1-3 and six penalty minutes (PIM) in 32 games with the Coyotes this season.  He has also collected 1-2-3 and two PIM in six games with San Antonio.
 
The Toronto, Ontario native signed with Phoenix as a free agent on July 21, 2006.  Last season, his first as a Coyote, Zigomanis set career-highs in goals (14), assists (9), points (23), games played (75), PIM (46), and shots (142).  
 
 The 6-foot-1, 200-pound Zigomanis has 19-14-33 and 58 PIM in 166 career NHL games with Carolina, St. Louis and Phoenix. In 107 games with the Coyotes, Zigomanis has recorded 16-10-26 and 52 PIM.   
 
Zigomanis was originally drafted by Carolina in the second round (46th overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
 
Murley, 28, has recorded one assist while appearing in three games for the Coyotes.  He has also recorded 11-27-38 and 20 penalty minutes (PIM) in 48 games this season for San Antonio. He currently leads San Antonio in points (38) and assists (27).
 
The Troy, New York native signed with the Coyotes as a free agent on July 20, 2007.  He appeared in 61 games for Albany (AHL) last season, collecting 23-32-55 and 18 PIM to rank second on the team in both points and assists. 
 
In 59 career NHL games with Pittsburgh, he recorded 2-6-8 and 38 PIM.  He has registered 82-146-228 and 207 PIM in 325 career AHL games with Wilkes-Barre, Albany and San Antonio.  In 2004, he scored two goals and added in assist for PlanetUSA in the AHL All-Star Game.  The 6-foot-1, 206-pound Murley was originally drafted by Pittsburgh in the second round (51st overall) of the 1999 Entry Draft.
 
Murley played his collegiate hockey at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), where he graduated as the school’s 11th all-time leading scorer with 74-101-175 in 137 career games.
