GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the team has selected goaltender Michael Lee in the third round (91st overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft at Bell Centre in Montreal. Phoenix acquired the 91st pick from the New York Islanders in exchange for a third round choice in the 2010 Entry Draft.

Lee, 18, posted a record of 26-15-4 with a 2.40 goals against average (GAA), a .918 save percentage (SV%) and three shutouts in 48 games with the Fargo Force of the United States Hockey League (USHL) last season. He ranked 2nd among USHL goalies in both wins (26) and save percentage (.918) while being named 2008-09 USHL Goaltender of the Year. He was also named to the 2008-09 USHL All-Rookie Team and played in the 2009 USHL All-Star Game. In addition, Lee was named Dave Peterson Goalie of the Year by USA Hockey.

A native of Roseau, Minnesota, Lee led Fargo to the 2009 USHL Clark Cup Finals, posting a record of 7-3 with a 2.64, GAA, a .921 SV% and one shutout in the postseason. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound Lee will attend St. Cloud State University in the fall.

Lee helped the U.S. Junior Select Team capture a tournament title at the 2008 World Junior ‘A’ Challenge while also being named to the All-Tournament Team after recording a perfect 4-0-0 record and a 2.00 goals-against average. is the official Web site of the Arizona Coyotes.
