DOAN LEADS TEAM CANADA TO VICTORY

Team Canada remained undefeated in the 2007 IIHF World Championship’s on Monday thanks to Coyotes and Team Canada captain Shane Doan, who scored the game-winning goal just 22-seconds into the third period to help defeat Norway by a score of 4-2.

Justin Williams (Carolina), Jason Chimera (Columbus) and Rick Nash (Columbus) also scored while Cam Ward (Carolina) made 21-saves for Canada, who improved to 2-0-0 in the tournament.  Team Canada will take on Slovakia on Wednesday as they look for their third win in Russia.

In other action on Monday, Sweden pounded Latvia 8-2, Switzerland edged Italy 2-1, and Slovakia took care of Germany 5-1.  All three aforementioned teams are now 2-0-0 in the tournament.

The World Championship’s will continue on Tuesday with teams from Groups B and D set to play against one another.  Keith Ballard’s USA squad will play Zbynek Michalek’s Czech Republic team, Russia will play against Niko Kapanen and Team Finland, Austria will do battle against Belarus, while Denmark will play against the Ukrane..
