CANADA DOUBLES UP USA 6-3

Team Canada struck early and often on Monday, scoring just eight seconds into their contest against Team USA on a goal by Jay McClement and never looked back as they defeated the Americans by a score of 6-3; in the Qualifying round at the 2007 IIHF World Championships in Moscow Russia.
Calgary Flames forward Matthew Lombardi had a hat trick, Los Angeles Kings forward Michael Cammaleri scored twice and Phoenix Coyotes captain Shane Doan had a pair of assists as Canada took first place in Group F and will play Switzerland in the Quarter-finals on Thursday. Team USA finished in second place and will play Finland in the Quarter-final round.
In other action Monday, Alexei Morozov scored twice and Evgeni Malkin added a goal as Russia doubled up Sweden 4-2. Denmark defeated Italy 5-2 and Germany edged Belarus 6-5. On Wednesday, Russia will play the Czech Republic and Sweden will do battle against Slovakia.
