Inspired by the community outreach of their on-ice co-workers, members of the Phoenix Coyotes front office took their turn on Tuesday, July 31, visiting children at the West Valley Child Crisis Center (WVCCC) in Glendale.

Coyotes staffers throughout the organization spent the morning hours sharing their time with the very special kids at the Center. Split into two groups, male employees played card games and built toys with the boys, while female employees helped the girls to put on a fashion show – complete with new shoes, hairstyles and make-up.

Though the efforts of the Coyotes employees appeared basic in nature, simply being with the children brought great joy and smiles to all the young faces.

“These are really great kids and hopefully we were able to brighten their day a little bit,” said Sarah Finecey, Phoenix Coyotes Director of Community Relations and Fan Development. “The Coyotes are committed to improving the quality of life for our community’s children and we are honored to be involved with the West Valley Child Crisis Center. I know everybody who volunteered had a great time with the kids and seeing the selfless work of all at the Center.”

The WVCCC provides temporary shelter and supervision in a homelike environment to children who are victims, or are at risk of, abuse, neglect, or abandonment. The Center also interacts with the community to increase awareness of, and work to prevent, the cycle of child abuse.
