The third annual CoyotesFest on Saturday featured all the trappings of a typical afternoon get together; that is if you lived at Jobing.com Arena and invited approximately 3,000 of your closest friends.

The final stop of the 2007 Coyotes Caravan kicked off with the unveiling of the Coyotes’ new RBK Edge uniforms. Led by Howler onto the ice, players such as Shane Doan, Ed Jovanovski and Steven Reinprecht gave those in attendance their first glance at the new sweaters. Designed to be more aerodynamic as well as more breathable and water repellant than the previous jersey, these threads of advanced technology also made their debut in the Den during CoyotesFest and quickly found their way onto fans throughout the arena.

This early skate was for more than show, however, as the players – in the midst of training camp – went through drills, showed their skills and participated in an inter-squad scrimmage. When not on the ice, fans were treated to autograph and picture sessions with their favorite players – a few of which also participated in a bit of Family Feud - Coyotes style. Other highlights included an “old logo” garage sale and silent auctions to benefit Coyotes Charities, a kids zone with bubble hockey, balloon artists, face painters and inflatables, the debut of the 2007-08 Pack Dance Team performance and press level tours – featuring the chance to test one’s pipes in a mock broadcast.

But perhaps the crown jewel of CoyotesFest came in the event’s final hour as Coyotes President and COO Doug Moss, General Manger Don Maloney, Assistant General Manager Brad Treliving, Television Play-by-Play Announcer Dave Strader and Television Color Analyst Darren Pang, gathered with fans for a one-of-a-kind Town Hall Meeting, answering questions about all aspects of the Coyotes organization and the upcoming season. While CoyotesFest certainly lived up to its billing as the region’s premier interactive hockey festival, it was one simple piece of knowledge that put the largest smile on everyone’s face – that hockey season has arrived.
