My list, as they say, is a “fluid” situation. I just read it again and already it’s changed. I could just erase the entire list and encourage you to download Eddie Vedder’s soundtrack to the movie “Into the Wild.” That would be enough. He’ll be nominated for an Oscar.  It was a labor of love, and it’s in my car and my iPod 24/7 these days.

I could also change U2’s “New York” to “Dirty Day” from the Zooropa CD. That’s easy enough. But, then I might get nostalgic for “The Joshua Tree” and go right to “Red Hill Mining Town.” Did I ever tell you about the time that the Coyotes charter plane broke down and we had to “borrow” another plane to get to San Jose? It turns out it was U2’s plane! In case the lads are wondering what happened to all of those specially designed seat back covers, the one’s with the new album logo on it…. um, well, at least they are not on eBay!

I laughed at my two-song selection from Neil Young. Can I just go with a 14-minute live version of “Down by the River?”  The entire Pearl Jam catalogue is a staple of mine, and if I could, I would encourage you to spend some time with The Tragically Hip, one of the best live bands ever, and some of the coolest hockey fans you will ever know. I don’t think that I will ever forget seeing them play Mark Messier’s private party in Edmonton last year. I didn’t belong in that room, but you weren’t going to get me out of it, either!

Did you know that we had “The Call” play the old “Doghouse” at America West Arena between periods of a hockey game?

I won’t bore you, but I will say this; I have been lucky enough to spend the last 25-years or so, spending most of my lunch money chasing the bands that you see on this list all over the country and I wouldn’t change one minute of it. I have also spent plenty of time interviewing most, if not all, of the acts, and I have found one common denominator. Rock stars would give it all up to be a sports star, and sports stars would give it all up to be a rock star.

Me? I’ll just spend my time admiring both for their passion, talent and commitment to excellence.
