The National Hockey League announced on Thursday, that Rick Tocchet's leave of absence from the NHL, is scheduled to expire on February 7, 2008.

The NHL held a press conference to present the report of their internal investigation in the matter of Rick Tocchet and allow Commissioner Gary Bettman to present his determination regarding Mr. Tocchet’s NHL status.

“We respect the commissioner’s decision and are relieved that this situation is behind us.  We will welcome Rick Tocchet back on Feb. 7, 2008," said Phoenix Coyotes Managing Partner and Head Coach Wayne Gretzky.

Tocchet spent five months as an associate coach for the Phoenix Coyotes before taking a leave of absence from the club in February of 2006.  Prior to joining the Coyotes coaching staff, Tocchet spent a year-and-a-half as an assistant coach with the Colorado Avalanche.

During his 18-year playing career, Tocchet recorded 952 points (440 goals, 512 assists) in 1,144 games with the Philadelphia Flyers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Los Angeles Kings, Boston Bruins, Washington Capitals and Phoenix Coyotes.  He was also a member of the Penguins Stanley Cup Championship team in 1992. is the official Web site of the Arizona Coyotes.
