ERIC BYRNES SERVED AS GUEST ANALYST DURING
THURSDAY’S PHOENIX COYOTES/SAN JOSE SHARKS
TELECAST ON FSN ARIZONA

One of the most charismatic personalities in all of sports brought his off-beat humor and sports knowledge to the National Hockey League this Thursday, Nov. 15, when Eric Byrnes served as a guest analyst during FSN Arizona’s telecast of the Phoenix Coyotes/San Jose Sharks game from Jobing.com Arena.

The Arizona Diamondbacks star outfielder has not only proven to be a hit on the baseball diamond, but he has made a name for himself off it as well via his numerous media ventures. He is the host of FSN Arizona’s popular The Eric Byrnes Show, Presented by Alltel and also made weekly appearances this past season on FSN’s Best Damn Sports Show Period and the MLB on FOX Saturday Game of the Week pre-game show. In addition, he worked for FOX Sports during the World Series and Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game.

On Thursday, Byrnes joined Coyotes play-by-play announcer Dave Strader and analyst Darren Pang in the broadcast booth for the second period. The network’s coverage began at 6:30 p.m. with the Qwest Coyotes Live pre-game show and the puck droped shortly after 7 p.m. The game also represented another edition of “HD Thursday Nights With The Coyotes” and Coyotes defenseman Keith Ballard wore a microphone for FSN Arizona so viewers could listen in to his on-ice conversations.

“We thought Eric was the perfect person to kick off our Coyotes guest analyst segment,” said Mike Roth, FSN Arizona Executive Producer. “Eric will bring his energy to an already lively announce booth.  We believe he will complement Dave Strader, Darren Pang and Todd Walsh with both his appreciation of sports and his ability to find humor in any situation. FSN Arizona hopes to give sports fans an opportunity to check out our first-class Coyotes telecasts and enjoy the musings of the always interesting Eric Byrnes.”

Byrnes appearance marked the first of various guest analyst appearances FSN Arizona has planned for its Phoenix Coyotes telecasts this season. As others are scheduled, the names and dates will be announced.

The latest edition of The Eric Byrnes Show, Presented by Alltel debuted this week and it showcases the time he spent at the Arizona Cardinals practice facility with Kurt Warner and Larry Fitzgerald. It also highlighted the evening when he lent his support to the Pat Tillman Foundation Benefit Night at Phoenix Municipal Stadium as the Phoenix Desert Dogs hosted the Scottsdale Scorpions. The next airing is this Friday at 9:30 p.m. and here are a couple clips from the show:
FSN Arizona televises the most regional sports action in the state and is the exclusive cable television home of the Arizona Diamondbacks, Phoenix Coyotes, Phoenix Suns, Arizona Cardinals, Arizona State University, University of Arizona, Northern Arizona University, Arizona Rattlers and Phoenix Mercury.
