The foundation of a winning hockey team always starts in net. With the signing of Ilya Bryzgalov to a 3 year contract extension, the Phoenix Coyotes now have the long term stability between the pipes that every franchise craves. Ownership and leadership are clearly on the same page. Everyone is focused, and committed to doing things the right way. Jerry Moyes, Jeff Shumway, Doug Moss, Wayne Gretzky, and General Manager Don Maloney give this city and all Phoenix Coyotes fans a reason to believe that a long term plan for organizational success may not take as long as the so-called experts predicted.
The precedent has been set for teams to make a quick transition in the NHL. If you don’t believe me, just look at the past three Stanley Cup Champions. Anaheim, Carolina, and Tampa Bay are all small market teams in non-traditional hockey markets that brought the world’s greatest trophy home to their cities where ice can only be found indoors.
After Wednesday’s practice at Jobing.com Arena, PhoenixCoyotes.com was there for wall to wall coverage of this important signing.
