Paul Kelly was introduced as the Executive Director of National Hockey League Players' Association on October 24th, 2007. On that day, he became the fourth person to hold that title since the organization's inception in 1967.
Kelly came to the NHLPA following a successful career as a lawyer in Massachusetts where he was a founding member of the firm Kelly, Libby, and Hoopes. His experience handling cases that involved members of the NHLPA provided Kelly the perfect background for this position.
The selection process that culminated in the hiring of Paul Kelly involved a five member search committee that was made up of Mike Cammalleri (L.A. Kings), Chris Chelios (Detroit Red Wings), Shawn Horcoff (Edmonton Oilers), Eric Lindros (UA), and Robyn Reghr (Calgary Flames).
During a recent trip to Phoenix, Paul Kelly took the time to visit Jobing.com Arena for the Coyotes-Ducks game and spent some time with PhoenixCoyotes.com Host Matt Rosen.
