TEAM USA & TEAM CANADA MOVE TO 2-0 IN GROUP B AT THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

On Sunday, Team USA moved to 2-0 in Group B at the World Championship with a 5-1 victory over Slovenia in Halifax. Peter Mueller had an assist for the second consecutive game, but Phil Kessel of the Boston Bruins was the hero with a hat trick.

Canada also moved to 2-0 in Group B with a 7-0 drubbing of Latvia in Halifax. Ed Jovanovski assisted on Canada’s first goal which proved to be the game winner. He was a plus three for the night. Captain Shane Doan was held scoreless during his 13:35 of ice time.

Martin Hanzal, Radim Vrbata, and Zbynek Michalek were all held off the scoresheet as the Czech Republic fell in overtime to Russia 5-4 in a Group D showdown in Quebec City.

In the other Group D game in Quebec City, Denmark beat Italy 6-2.
