Coyotes Goaltending Coach Grant Fuhr birdied three of his last six holes on Sunday to rally for a third-place finish at the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament played alongside Lake Tahoe, Nev.

Fuhr, who signed a multi-year contract extension with the Coyotes last week, hovered near the top of the leader board all day on Sunday before briefly moving into the lead when he made a birdie putt on No. 17. He finished with 64 points at the annual event, which uses the modified Stableford scoring system.

Former Major League Baseball pitcher Rick Rhoden finished with 68 points and won the nationally-televised, 54-hole tournament for the seventh time. Former NHL player Dan Quinn was the runner-up, one point behind.

Fuhr also finished third last year, and placed fourth in 2006. This year, he shared third place with Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo.

Coyotes Head Coach Wayne Gretzky, playing in this event for the first time since 1999, had 10 points and finished in 48th place. Curiously, Gretzky placed 48th in 1999, too.

Half of the golfers that finished in the top-10 are current or former NHL players:   Fuhr, Quinn, former Coyotes forward Brett Hull (tied for fifth), Pierre Larouche (tied for fifth) and former Coyotes forward Jeremy Roenick (ninth). is the official Web site of the Arizona Coyotes.
