Quinney, who hasn’t played in the prestigious event since missing the cut in 2001, enters this year’s third major golf tournament ranked 52nd in the world with a career-best 71.08 scoring average.
The Arizona State graduate/Scottsdale resident is enjoying his best year on the PGA Tour having earned $1,965,105 in 19 events played. In contrast, he earned $1,612,056 in 29 events last year.
Look for Quinney, wearing his Coyotes logo golf shirt, on television coverage of the tournament all weekend. He is scheduled to tee off just after midnight (Arizona time) on Thursday. His first-round playing partners are Richard Sterne and Henrik Stenson.
