COYOTES MAKE SPECIAL DELIVERIES

When Mark Bosco has his season tickets in hand he’s usually heading to Jobing.com Arena to see the Coyotes in action.

But to Bosco’s surprise this scenario recently was reversed as the team took his tickets to see him, sending the package in the hands of rookie forward Kyle Turris.

“We have great seats with all the sports teams in town and never had another team deliver tickets with one of their up-and-coming stars,” said Bosco, who received the visit at his office. “It’s unbelievable. We were pretty much unprepared for it, but it’s awesome.”

Turris was joined by Mikkel Boedker, Brian McGrattan, Kevin Porter, Mikael Tellqvist, Viktor Tikhonov and Daniel Winnik as the players – paired with members of the Coyotes’ customer service and ticket sales departments – delivered upgraded tickets to randomly selected season-ticket holders.

It was a simple gesture that allowed the players to thank some of their most adamant supporters in person for their continued support of the team.

Coyotes rookie Mikkel Boedker visits Brent Wittke of Western States Fire Protection Company.
“In an effort to let our fans know how important they are to us, we thought it would be a nice surprise to show up with a goodie bag and upgraded tickets for an upcoming game,” said Jackie Johnson, the team's director of ticket service. “Having these gifts delivered by a player provided them with a more personal touch and allowed us to share in their excitement about the 2008-09 season.”

Driving around the Valley gave the players and staff a greater understanding how widespread the passion for Coyotes hockey is as each stop throughout the day was filled with anticipation about the promise the young Coyotes hold.

“It’s been a lot of fun handing the tickets directly to them,” Turris said. “Everyone’s been excited and enthusiastic about the upcoming season, wishing us all the best and telling us that they’ll be following us closely. We plan on putting out a good product for them to come and see and tell their friends all about.”

For fans such as Bosco, the visit was simply another reminder of why they’re a part of Coyotes hockey.

“We’ve been a supporter of the Coyotes since they arrived in town and we don’t have any plans to change that.”
