A team of Coyotes’ staff members were among the nearly 30,000 walkers who pounded the pavement on Saturday morning at the 2008 Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s Walk to Cure Diabetes. The largest JDRF walk site in the world took place at Tempe Beach Park in the name of finding a cure for the disease that directly impacts an estimated 6,000 families in the Phoenix metropolitan area.

Also making his presence known was Howler, who entertained participants from the main stage with his fur-flying antics, along with the Coyotes’ “slapshot” inflatable, which provided a fun pre- and post-walk diversion for the youngest walkers at the event.

Nearly 30,000 walkers hit the streets in Tempe on Saturday morning to support the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
The Coyotes have been an annual sponsor and supporter of the Walk to Cure Diabetes, which last year raised more than $2.4 million for research to find the cure for type 1 diabetes and its complications. Walk organizers hoped to increase that number at this year’s event to aid in research, which is a vital part of JDRF’s mission in Arizona and across the globe.

“We’re honored to have a continuing relationship with JDRF in the search for the cure,” said Sarah Finecey, the team's director of community relations. “It’s also important that our involvement isn’t limited to financial support as a sponsor. The fact that we had employees willing to walk a 5K course early in the morning on a game day highlights what this cause means to the entire Coyotes organization.”
