COYOTES CHARITIES GRANTS OVER $300K TO VALLEY NONPROFITS

GLENDALE, Ariz. --- Phoenix Coyotes Charities Chairman John Breslow recently announced that the organization has granted over $300,000 to Valley non-profit organizations through the team’s 2008 grant application process.

“Each season we have the privilege of being able to provide non-profit organizations with financial support for a wide variety of programs and services that benefit Valley youth,” said Breslow. “This year, we received an overwhelming amount of commendable requests for funding and were able to fund nearly 40 nonprofits that have a presence here in Arizona.”

Highlights of the grants awarded include $50,000 to Special Olympics Arizona; $25,000 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Phoenix; $15,000 to Partners in Action/Mission of Grace; $15,000 to VisionQuest 20/20; and $14,770 to Make-A-Wish Foundation of Arizona.

Special Olympics Arizona (Phoenix, Ariz.) - $50,000
Special Olympics Arizona provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. With the $50,000 grant from Coyotes Charities, the Arizona Unified Floor Hockey team will represent the United States as Team USA at the 2009 Special Olympics World Winter Games in Boise, Idaho, Feb. 6-13 with Coyotes Charities as the team’s exclusive sponsor.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Phoenix (Phoenix, Ariz.) - $25,000
Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Phoenix inspires and enables youth in the community to realize their individual potential while preparing for responsible adulthood. The $25,000 grant from Coyotes Charities will help support the Education and Career Development Program offered at the Glendale branch that reaches 300 children per day.

Partners in Action/Mission of Grace (Scottsdale, Ariz.) - $15,000
Partners in Action/Mission of Grace is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to serve the poor and displaced members of society by assisting in meeting their physical, mental, and spiritual needs. With the $15,000 from Coyotes Charities, Partners in Action/Mission of Grace will provide camping experiences that include mentoring, team building, environmental education and sports activities in a natural setting for children and youth throughout Arizona.

VisionQuest 20/20 (Mesa, Ariz.) - $15,000
VisionQuest 20/20 operates with the mission to protect children from the devastating effects of vision impairment and blindness through the establishment of the first nationwide vision screening program in the United States. With the $15,000 grant, VisionQuest 20/20 will dramatically increase the number of school-aged children in Maricopa County who receive vision screenings.

Make-A-Wish Foundation of Arizona (Phoenix, Ariz.) - $14,770
Make-A-Wish Foundation of Arizona seeks to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. With the $14,770 grant from Coyotes Charities, Make-A-Wish will grant two sports wishes giving a child the opportunity to meet and spend time with a sports figure they admire.

“We’ve had the honor of being able to grant over $1.7 million to numerous much-deserving youth-oriented organizations across the state and look forward to continuing our grant cycle next season,” added Breslow.
