If the North Pole is ever in need of a few extra elves, jolly ol’ St. Nick has a more-than-capable crew to choose from right here at Jobing.com Arena.

Answering the call to bring joy to children in need this holiday season, Coyotes fans brought boxes upon boxes of new toys, dolls, games, crafts and sporting equipment to the Holiday Toy Drive on

Dec. 13, quickly overfilling the donation bins outside Gates 4 and 7. Benefitting the children of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Phoenix, the partnership between the Coyotes, Fox Sports Arizona and Sharp Business Systems gave those attending the game a chance to share a bit of “howliday” spirit with those in need prior to watching the Coyotes wrangle with the Red Wings.

“We have some of the most caring fans who answer the call every time the community needs an assist,” said Sarah Finecey, the team's director of community relations. “Their generosity is definitely on display for all to see when you look at the amount of toys collected in such a short timeframe.”

While the simple joy of giving was the real gift for those who donated to the drive, one lucky fan also walked away with a team-signed Coyotes jersey, four seats on the glass to a future Coyotes game and the chance to meet defenseman Kurt Sauer and goaltender Mikael Tellqvist, courtesy of a contest for those who donated a toy or made a financial contribution. Ensuring that everyone was entered were members of the Phoenix Coyotes Booster Club, who volunteered their time to assist with the cause, even though it meant that many of these dedicated fans missed more of the evening’s game than they normally would throughout an entire season.

Part two of the Holiday Toy Drive will take place on Friday night as Santa Howler and members of the team's front-office staff will be presenting the toys to children at the Swift Kids Branch of the Boys and Girls Clubs in Glendale.
