COYOTES ANNOUNCE RADIO TEAM
GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- Phoenix Coyotes President and COO Douglas Moss announced today the Coyotes radio team for the 2005-06 season. Bob Heethuis will be the club's new radio play-by-play announcer and former Coyotes player Louie DeBrusk will serve as the team's radio color analyst. Heethuis and DeBrusk will broadcast all the Coyotes games on AM 1060 KDUS and 93.3 KDKB.
"We are delighted to have Bob and Louie as our new radio team for Coyotes broadcasts," said Coyotes Senior Vice President and CMO Mike Bucek. "Bob is an outstanding broadcaster and the consummate professional and Louie was a fan favorite who will provide our listeners with great insight. We are confident that our fans will enjoy their call."
Heethuis joined the Coyotes broadcast team at the start of the 1997-98 season. Over the last seven seasons, "Heeter" has served as the studio host for all Coyotes radio broadcasts as well as the Coyotes pre-game, intermission and post-game shows. The "Coyotes Wrap-Up Show" - a post-game call-in show heard on AM 1060 KDUS with interviews, highlights and analysis - earned Heethuis a loyal following.
In the past, Heethuis could be heard on AM 1060 KDUS during the week updating listeners with news on the Coyotes and the rest of the sports world. He has also hosted "Coyotes Weekly" - an hour-long Coyotes magazine show on "Your Sports Authority" AM 1060 KDUS.
Currently in his 21st year of professional hockey broadcasting, the 44-year-old native of Muskegon, Michigan previously worked as the radio play-by-play voice for the International Hockey League's Muskegon Lumberjacks and Phoenix Roadrunners from 1984 to 1997. Throughout his 13-year career in the IHL, Heethuis had the opportunity to call over 1,000 regular and postseason games, while earning IHL Broadcaster-of-the-Year honors in 1994-95.
The 34-year-old DeBrusk played 11 seasons in the NHL with Edmonton, Tampa Bay, Chicago and Phoenix. He played three seasons with the Coyotes from 1998-99 to 2000-01. In 401 NHL games, the native of Cambridge, Ontario collected 24-17-41 and 1,161 penalty minutes.
