GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Michael Barnett announced today that the Coyotes have acquired left wing Mike Lecerc from the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in exchange for a conditional draft choice in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

"We felt that we needed an additional forward whose physical attributes see him taking the puck to the net with power and confidence," said Barnett. "Mike Leclerc is that type of player. In our opinion, he has not yet reached his peak as an NHL forward."

In 2003-04, the 6-foot-2, 212-pound Leclerc played 10 games with Anaheim, recording 1-3-4 and 4 penalty minutes (PIM). Leclerc missed most of the season with a knee injury. In 2002-03, he played in 57 games with the Ducks, collecting 9-19-28 and 34 PIM. He also helped Anaheim reach the Stanley Cup Finals playing in 21 playoff games, registering 2-9-11 and 12 PIM.

The 28-year-old native of Winnipeg, Manitoba has played eight NHL seasons with Anaheim, appearing in 291 career games and recording 54-78-132 and 251 PIM. His best season came in 2001-02 when he set career highs in goals (20), assists (24), points (44), penalty minutes (107) and games played (82).

Leclerc was originally drafted by Anaheim in the 3rd round (55th overall) of the 1995 Entry Draft.
