COYOTES' CARAVAN ROLLS ON

On Wednesday, the Coyotes' Caravan made its first stops of the 2005-06 season with visits to Flagstaff and Prescott.
In Flagstaff, Coyotes players Krys Kolanos and Matthew Spiller, along with Coyotes Radio Play-by-Play Announcer Bob Heethuis, began the day with a visit to Thomas K. Knoles Elementary School. Students from kindergarten through sixth grade took part in an informative assembly with the Coyotes, where they learned the importance of physical fitness and healthy living. Following the discussion, students had the chance to take part in a question and answer session with the guests and gain insight on some of their favorite Coyotes players.
The second stop in Flagstaff was Marshall Elementary School, where students from kindergarten through sixth grade, were given an in depth look at the equipment used by Coyotes players through a show and tell presentation. Students at Marshall Elementary were also invited to be a part of a question and answer period following the event.
Next stop for the Flagstaff crew was the Kilip Elementary After School Program. Students in the program from kindergarten through sixth grade were shown demonstrations on drills used in every Coyotes practice including stick drills, which featured a crowd-pleasing stick drill race. Afterwards, students took part in a Coyotes trivia contest and question and answer session.
The final stop of the day in Flagstaff was at the Jay Lively Center. At the rink, fans that signed up in advance for the open skate, got to skate for an hour on a private rink. Following the skate, Kolanos and Spiller signed autographs for over an hour before the conclusion of the day's events.
"It was a great day," said Kolanos. "Everyone we met today was very hospitable and excited to have hockey back in the Valley. I am really looking forward to coming out here again, it's a great event."
During the same time as the Flagstaff visits, another Caravan with Coyotes players Jeff Taffe and Fredrik Sjostrom, Coyotes Television Play-by-Play Announcer Curt Keilback and Coyotes Television Color Analyst Darren Pang, was busy touring Prescott.
The first stop in Prescott came at Coyote Springs Elementary School, where students from kindergarten through sixth grade were given a private assembly where they listened to the Coyotes guests describe life in the National Hockey League and an open forum where players answered questions on topic ranging from what equipment they use to which players they room with on the road.
The next stop for the Prescott Caravan was Franklin Phonetic Elementary School. The players gave the students a show and tell demonstration of the equipment they wear for games and how to put each piece on properly.
After Franklin Phonetic Elementary School, the Caravan made a visit to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Yavapai County. At this event, kids of all ages took part in demonstrations and drills put on by Taffe and Sjostrom. The kids also had the chance to compete against one another in a stick drill race.
The final stop of the day for the Prescott Caravan was the Gateway Mall, where Coyotes players and television crew spent three hours signing autographs and talking to fans while radio stations KNOT and KTMG conducted live remote feeds of the event.
Today, the Caravan will again be out in the area with stops in Chandler and North Phoenix.
The Chandler stop of the Caravan will feature Coyote players Boyd Deveraux, Jason Chimera and Coyotes Radio Play-by-Play Announcer Bob Heethuis. The final visit of the day in Chandler will take place at Desert Schools Coyotes Center with an open skate from 6:30pm - 7:30pm, followed by an autograph session from 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm.
The North Phoenix Caravan will feature Coyote players Mike Comrie, Mike Johnson and Coyotes Television Play-by-Play Announcer Curt Keilback and Coyotes Television Color Analyst Darren Pang. Fans can catch the Caravan at Half Moon Grill from 5:30pm - 7:00pm, when the Coyotes players and broadcasters will sign autographs. The final visit of the day in North Phoenix will take place at Ozzie Ice Rink with an open skate from 7:45pm- 8:45pm, followed by an autograph session from 8:45pm - 9:45pm.
On Friday, the Caravan will again be out in the area with stops in Scottsdale, Glendale/Peoria and Tempe/Phoenix. The public appearances are as follows:
The Scottsdale Caravan will feature Coyote players Shane Doan, Tyson Nash and Coyotes Television Play-by-Play Announcer Curt Keilback and Coyotes Television Color Analyst Darren Pang. Fans in Chandler can attend the Caravan stop at the Alltel Ice Den with an open skate from 5:00pm - 6:00pm, followed by an autograph session from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Following the visit to the Ice Den, the Caravan will travel to San Felipe's Cantina, where fans can get autographs from 7:30pm - 8:30pm.
The Glendale/Peoria Caravan will feature Coyote players Chris McAllister, Mike Rupp and Coyotes Radio Play-by-Play Announcer Bob Heethuis. The Caravan will make an autograph siging stop at Fox & Hound's from 5:30pm - 7:00pm. The final visit of the day in Glendale/Peoria will take place at Desert Schools Coyotes Center with an open skate from 7:30pm- 8:30pm, followed by an autograph session from 8:30pm - 9:30pm.
The Tempe/Phoenix Caravan will feature Coyote players Cale Hulse and Denis Gauthuer. The Caravan will visit Arcadia Ice Rink with an open skate from 3:00pm - 3:45pm and an autograph session from 3:45pm - 4:30pm. The next stop will be Oceanside Ice Rink with an open skate from 4:45pm- 5:30pm, followed by an autograph session from 5:30pm - 6:30pm. The final stop of the night will take place at McDuffy's in Tempe, where the Caravan will hold an autograph session from 7:00pm - 9:00pm.
