COYOTES TO INTRODUCE MASCOT ON OCTOBER 15
Fans Can Participate in "Name the Mascot" Contest
GLENDALE, ARIZONA - The Phoenix Coyotes announced today the team will introduce a mascot on October 15th at the game against the Detroit Red Wings at Glendale Arena. This will be the first time since the Coyotes debuted in Arizona in 1996 that the team will have a mascot. The Coyotes are launching a "Name the Mascot" contest to determine the moniker of the latest addition to the team. The Coyotes have revealed that the mascot will be a coyote, but have not released any further details about the character. The mascot will be present at all home games and will make appearances at community events, schools, and team events throughout Arizona.
The "Name the Mascot" contest will be hosted on www.phoenixcoyotes.com. The winning entrant will receive four glass seats to the Coyotes game on October 29, a visit at their seats from the new mascot, as well as a Coyotes jersey. In addition, the mascot will make a personal appearance at the home, workplace, or school of the winner. Voters can choose from "Dusty the Desert Dog", "Howler", "Cody Coyote", or "Copper Coyote", or submit their own original suggestion. The winning name will be announced on www.phoenixcoyotes.com on October 12.
"As we enter into a new era of Coyotes hockey, it is time to have our own mascot to entertain fans of all ages, especially our young fans. The mascot will be an integral part of our fan development and community relations efforts and will make appearances on behalf of the team throughout the state year round, " said Phoenix Coyotes Chief Marketing Officer Michael Bucek.
