GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Michael Barnett announced today that the Coyotes have assigned defenseman Matt Jones to the San Antonio Rampage (AHL).

The 6-foot, 215 pound Jones has played in 4 preseason games, collecting 6 penalty minutes.  Last season, the 22-year-old native of Downers Grove, Illinois played 45 games with the University of North Dakota recording 6-11-17 and 66 penalty minutes.

The Coyotes will open the 2005-06 regular season this Wednesday, October 5 at Vancouver. The game can be seen on Fox Sports Net Arizona at 7:30 p.m. The Coyotes will play their home opener on Saturday, October 8 at 7:00 p.m. versus the Minnesota Wild at Glendale Arena.
