JOHN BROWNE NAMED EXECUTIVE V.P. OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- Phoenix Coyotes President and COO Douglas Moss announced today the Coyotes have hired John Browne as executive vice president of business development for the Coyotes and Glendale Arena.
Browne, 39, will report directly to Moss and will be responsible for managing the company's relationship with the Bonham Group and working on Westgate City Center sponsorship opportunities with the Ellman Companies and Clear Channel Spectacolor. In addition, Browne will oversee the corporate and suite sales departments of the Coyotes and Glendale Arena.
He joins the organization from the Tampa Bay Devils Rays baseball team where he served as the club's vice president of marketing and broadcasting. With the Devil Rays, he was responsible for sponsorship and suite sales, broadcasting, marketing, ticket sales and promotions. Browne has been with the Devil Rays since 1997 when he joined the organization as director of corporate sales. He was promoted to vice president in 1999.
Prior to joining the Devil Rays, Browne spent six seasons in the Chicago White Sox organization, the first three as general manager of their Class A Sarasota club, where he was named Florida State League Executive of the Year in 1993. Before moving up to Chicago as the team's manager of sponsorship sales and broadcast operations, he oversaw spring operations in the years Bo Jackson made his comeback and Michael Jordan pursued a career in pro baseball.
Before his career with the White Sox began in 1991, Browne was general manager of the Burlington (N.C.) Indians, a Cleveland rookie affiliate. A summa cum laude graduate of St. John's and native of Wayne, N.J., Browne and his wife Anne have two sons, John and Patrick.
