THURSDAY'S GAME BROADCAST ON FSNHD
FSN ARIZONA TELEVISES ITS SECOND PHOENIX COYOTES
GAME OF THE 2005-06 SEASON
IN HIGH DEFINITION THURSDAY NIGHT
FSN Arizona is set to bring its viewers the second of 10 High-Definition Phoenix Coyotes telecasts in 2005-06 with Thursday, Nov. 3, when they host the Los Angeles Kings at Glendale Arena. A number of other Coyotes games against some of the NHL's best can be seen in HD this season, including match-ups against the Vancouver Canucks, San Jose Sharks, Calgary Flames and the Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning.
Fans in Arizona will have access to 10 HD Coyotes games this season through Cox Communications. The HD telecasts are being offered by Cox Communications as part of the national High-Definition alliance among the Fox-owned and managed regional sports networks and Cox. Both Cox and the nation's leading satellite provider DIRECTV are making HD games available, and FSN continues to work with all Arizona distributors to offer them to as many HD-capable homes as possible.
HDTV transmits a picture that is much sharper and clearer than standard-definition television pictures. These games will provide images six times more detailed than the traditional analog format. Nationally, FSN is offering nearly 75 local NHL games this season to selected cable operators across the country, providing approximately 225 hours of local programming.
Cox Communications Arizona offers the enhanced package of High-Definition games to HD subscribers in Phoenix & Tucson at no additional charge, but are subject to availability. FSN Arizona and Cox also continue to offer Standard Definition telecasts of each of these games to non-digital subscribers as part of the core FSN Arizona regional service distributed throughout the state.
The Coyotes HD telecasts can be seen on Cox channel 722 and may be viewed by those digital cable customers with an HDTV set and HD Digital Converter. FSN Arizona's live 30-minute Coyotes Countdown pre-game show, which precedes every Coyotes home game on the network will be televised in High Definition this year as well.
FSN Arizona continues to televise the most regional sports action in the state, airing approximately 1,200 hours of original local programming a year. The network is the exclusive cable television home of the Phoenix Coyotes, Arizona Diamondbacks, Phoenix Suns, Arizona Rattlers, Arizona State University, University of Arizona and the nightly Arizona Sports Report. The network is currently seen in 1.8 million households in Arizona & New Mexico and can also be seen across the country via home satellite services. Nationally, FSN reaches more than 81 million homes through its network of 20 regional sports channels.
