GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Michael Barnett announced today that defenseman Matt Jones has been assigned to the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Jones was recalled from San Antonio on Saturday and played in the Coyotes' 2-1 overtime win at Boston on Sunday.  Jones registered 1 shot on goal and 2 penalty minutes (PIM) in the win.  The 22-year-old native of Downers Grove, Illinois has played 4 games for the Coyotes this season, recording 6 PIM, and made his NHL debut on Nov. 25 at Dallas. The 6-foot, 215 pound Jones has collected 7 assists and 14 PIM in 22 games for San Antonio this season.

Currently in his first professional season, Jones was drafted by the Coyotes (3rd round, 80th overall) in the 2002 Entry Draft. is the official Web site of the Arizona Coyotes.
