On Thursday, the 2006 World Junior Hockey Championships concluded with Team Canada capturing the gold medal in a 5-0 win over Team Russia.

For the phoenix Coyotes, the tournament was the chance for prospects Enver Lisin (Russia), Kevin Porter (USA) and Blake Wheeler (USA) to showcase their talents on an international stage.

Lisin, a second-round (50th overall) draft choice of the Coyotes in 2004, helped lead Team Russia to the silver medal by registering two goals, including a game-winner over the six game tournament.  Lisin also recorded a pair of penalty minutes and a +2 ranking.

Porter, the Coyotes fifth choice (fourth round, 119th overall) in 2004, served as the captain of Team USA and posted six points (2 goals, 4 assists), two power play goals and a game-winning goal.  Porter was also named as Team USA's best forward by his fellow teammates.

Wheeler, who was Phoenix's first overall selection (first round, fifth overall) in 2004, scored two goals and registered six penalty minutes in seven games.
