GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Michael Barnett announced today that the Coyotes have recalled left wing Steve Gainey from the San Antonio Rampage, the Coyotes' top minor league affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).

Gainey, 26, has registered one assist and two penalty minutes (PIM) in 11 games with the Coyotes during two previous call-ups this season.  The native of Montreal, Quebec signed with the Coyotes as a free agent on Nov. 4, 2005 while with the Rampage.  Gainey was also recalled on Dec. 15 before being reassigned to San Antonio on Dec. 29.  For his career, Gainey has collected 0-2-2 and 16 PIM in 24 NHL games with Phoenix and Dallas.

The 6-foot-1, 192-pound Gainey has recorded 7-15-22 and 49 PIM in 28 games with San Antonio this season and leads the team in assists and points. 

Gainey will be available to play in tomorrow's Coyotes game at Ottawa.  The Coyotes and Senators will face off Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. Arizona time.  The game will be broadcast on Fox Sports Net and KDUS (1060 AM). is the official Web site of the Arizona Coyotes.
