GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Michael Barnett announced today that Coyotes left wing Ladislav Nagy will be out for the remainder of the 2005-06 regular season following arthroscopic knee surgery.  Rehabilitation time following the surgery is expected to be four to five months.

Nagy -- who had missed the last two games of the season (Jan. 31 vs. Vancouver and Feb. 2 vs. Los Angeles) with a knee injury -- had arthroscopic knee surgery today on his lateral meniscus and to repair a bone defect.  The surgery was performed in Phoenix by Dr. Gary Waslewski, the Coyotes' team orthopedic surgeon.

The injury brings to an end the best season of Nagy's 6-year NHL career.  In 51 games this season, Nagy recorded 15 goals, 41 assists and 56 points.  The 26-year-old forward had already set a career high in assists and fell one point shy of tying his career high in points.  Nagy currently ranks 7th in the entire NHL in assists and tied for 16th in points.  He leads all Coyotes players in assists, points and game winning goals (4), and ranks 3rd on the club in goals.

A native of Saca, Slovakia, Nagy will also miss the 2006 Olympic Winter Games to be played in Torino, Italy later this month from Feb. 15-23.  Nagy was among 23 players named to represent Team Slovakia's men's ice hockey team at the Olympics.  It was to be the first time that Nagy would see action in the Olympics and the fifth time that Nagy would represent Team Slovakia in international play.

The 5-foot-11, 192-pound forward was originally drafted by St. Louis in the 7th round (177th overall) of the 1997 NHL Entry Draft.  The Coyotes acquired Nagy on Mar. 13, 2001 along with Michal Handzus, Jeff Taffe and a 1st round choice in the 2002 Entry Draft in exchange for Keith Tkachuk. is the official Web site of the Arizona Coyotes.
