COYOTES RECALL STEVE GAINEY

GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Michael Barnett announced today that the Coyotes have recalled left wing Steve Gainey from the San Antonio Rampage, the Coyotes' top minor league affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).

Gainey, 27, has registered one assist and 20 penalty minutes (PIM) in 20 games with the Coyotes during three previous stints this season.  For his career, Gainey has collected 0-2-2 and 34 PIM in 33 NHL games with Phoenix and Dallas.

With San Antonio this season, the 6-foot-1, 192-pound Gainey has recorded 8-15-23 and 59 PIM in 35 games.  The native of Montreal, Quebec signed with the Coyotes as a free agent on Nov. 4, 2005 while with the Rampage. 

Gainey joined the Coyotes for practice this afternoon and will be available to play in Thursday's Coyotes game vs. Dallas at Glendale Arena.  Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.  For ticket information, please call 480-563-PUCK (7825), or visit www.phoenixcoyotes.com.
