Arizona Coyotes

Howler, the Phoenix Coyotes mascot, was at the Phoenix Children's Hospital on Friday to visit a special young sports fan with Bone Cancer.

Brooke Alden is an athletic 11 year-old girl fighting Bone Cancer in her leg. Ironically, she broke her femur playing football with the boys during recess at school, and that led to the discovery of the cancer this past January.

Being the avid sports fan that she is, the Coyotes wanted to extend Brooke their support.

Last week's surgery test results showed that her leg does not need to be amputated at this point. However, due to the extreme nature of the cancer and surgery, Brooke will no longer be able to be active in high impact sports - but she can swim.

With the huge amounts of medical expenses, her family is not able to build a pool in their backyard. Four local pool companies, Anasazi, California, Pacific and Presidential Pools and Spas, have donated their time, money and supplies to build Brooke a pool at her house so she can rehab and still be active.

A Charitable Giving account has been set up at Arizona Federal Credit Union (Brooke Alden Cancer Fund) for cash donations. is the official Web site of the Arizona Coyotes.
