A salary arbiter has ruled in the case involving the Coyotes and forward Daniel Winnik.

"The Winnik arbitration reward was fair and reasonable," Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney said Friday via e-mail. "...The two-way contract he will play under for the 2009-10 season is appropriate. Dan will still receive an increase in both his NHL and minor league salary, yet the increase was more in line with our thoughts on this player."

Meanwhile, Maloney said he continues to pursue scoring help.

Nine-year NHL veteran Alex Tanguay, an unrestricted free agent who has scored 193 regular-season goals, is still without a team.

"I have had several conversations with the representative for Alex Tanguay," Maloney said. "He is a very talented player yet his injuries are of some concern. We continue to have discussions to see if there is a way we can work out a contract acceptable to both the player and the Club."

Playing for Montreal, Tanguay missed significant time in 2008-09 because of a shoulder injury during the season. He also missed two playoff games because of an upper-body injury. is the official Web site of the Arizona Coyotes.
