GLENDALE, ARIZONA -- Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have assigned left wing Ryan Hollweg to their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage.

Hollweg recorded two assists and 38 penalty minutes (PIM) in 25 games with the Toronto Maple Leafs last season. He also appeared in 28 AHL games with the Toronto Marlies, collecting 2-1-3 and 34 PIM. Hollweg began his NHL career with the New York Rangers in 2005-06, recording 2-3-5 and 84 PIM in 52 games as a rookie. In 225 career NHL games with the Rangers and Maple Leafs, the 5-foot-10, 212-pound left wing has registered 5-9-14 and 349 PIM. He has also played in 14 career playoff games, all with the Rangers.

Prior to his professional career, Hollweg spent parts of five seasons with Medicine Hat of the Western Hockey League (WHL), where he recorded 94-139-233 and 478 PIM in 233 games. A native of Downey, Calif., he also represented the United States at the 2002 World Junior Championship.
