UPSHALL OUT INDEFINITELY WITH KNEE INJURY

GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that Coyotes forward Scottie Upshall will be out of the lineup indefinitely after sustaining an injury to his right knee during the team’s game versus the Calgary Flames on Jan. 28. A follow-up evaluation and MRI by the Club’s medical staff confirmed a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). An ACL surgical procedure is expected to be scheduled.
Upshall

Upshall, 26, recorded 18-14-32 and 50 penalty minutes (PIM) 49 games for the Coyotes this season. His 18 goals currently lead the team and represent his career-high for goals in a single season.

Upshall, who was acquired from Philadelphia with a second round choice in the 2011 Entry Draft for Daniel Carcillo on Mar. 4, 2009, has recorded 26-19-45 and 76 PIM in 68 games since joining the Coyotes. In 279 career NHL games with Nashville, Philadelphia and Phoenix, the 6-foot, 193-pound Upshall has registered 64-74-138 and 273 PIM. Upshall also earned a silver medal while representing Canada at the 2009 World Championship in Switzerland. A native of Fort McMurray, Alberta, he was originally selected by Nashville in the first round (6th overall) of the 2002 Entry Draft.
