GLENDALE, ARIZONA -- Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have acquired center Petteri Nokelainen from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for a sixth round draft choice in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

Nokelainen, 24, has appeared in 50 games for the Ducks this season, recording 4-7-11 and 21 penalty minutes (PIM). He split the 2008-09 season between Boston and Anaheim, totaling 4-5-9 and 16 PIM in 50 games. In 2007-08, the native of Imatra, Finland set career-highs in goals (11) and games played (57) while playing for the Bruins. Nokelainen also played in 15 games for the New York Islanders in 2005-06, his first season in the NHL, and collected 1-1-2.

In 172 career NHL games with the New York Islanders, Boston and Anaheim, the 6-foot-1, 194-pound Nokelainen has recorded 16-16-32 and 60 PIM. He has also collected two assists in 16 NHL playoff games. Nokelainen, who represented Finland in the 2004 and 2005 World Junior Championship tournaments, was originally drafted by the Islanders in the first round (16th overall) of the 2004 Entry Draft.
