GLENDALE, ARIZONA -- Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have re-signed defenseman David Schlemko and left wing Ryan Hollweg to contracts. As per club policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.

Schlemko, 22, recorded 1-4-5 and eight penalty minutes (PIM) in 17 games with the Coyotes last season to set career-highs in goals, assists, points, games played and PIM. He also appeared in 55 American Hockey League (AHL) games for San Antonio, collecting 5-26-31 and 30 PIM.

Schlemko has appeared in 20 career NHL games with the Coyotes and has tallied 1-5-6. In 124 career AHL games, the 6-foot-1, 190-pound Schlemko has recorded 12-48-60 and 54 PIM. In 2007-08, he appeared in 58 games with the Arizona Sundogs of the Central Hockey League (CHL) and collected 10-29-39 and 24 PIM. Schlemko also registered 3-5-8 in 14 playoff games to help lead the Sundogs to the 2008 Ray Miron President’s Cup Championship.

Prior to his professional career, Schlemko spent three seasons (2004-05 to 2006-07) with Medicine Hat of the Western Hockey League (WHL). In 198 career WHL games, he recorded 22-109-131 and 145 PIM. A native of Edmonton, Alberta, Schlemko originally signed with the Coyotes as a free agent on July 19, 2007.

Hollweg, 27, recorded 4-6-10 and 93 PIM while appearing in 53 AHL games with San Antonio last season after signing with the Coyotes as a free agent on Sept. 29, 2009.

Hollweg recorded two assists and 38 PIM in 25 games with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2008-09. He also appeared in 28 AHL games with the Toronto Marlies, collecting 2-1-3 and 34 PIM. Hollweg began his NHL career with the New York Rangers in 2005-06, recording 2-3-5 and 84 PIM in 52 games as a rookie. In 225 career NHL games with the Rangers and Maple Leafs, the 5-foot-10, 212-pound left wing has registered 5-9-14 and 349 PIM. He has also played in 14 career playoff games, all with the Rangers.

Prior to his professional career, Hollweg spent parts of five seasons with Medicine Hat of the Western Hockey League (WHL), where he recorded 94-139-233 and 478 PIM in 233 games. A native of Downey, Calif., he also represented the United States at the 2002 World Junior Championship.

Hollweg was originally selected by the Rangers in the eighth round (238th overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
