Coyotes Announce Changes to Scouting Department

GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have restructured their professional and amateur scouting departments.

Joining the Coyotes as the club’s new Director of Amateur Scouting is Rick Knickle. Knickle has served as a scout for the Nashville Predators since the team’s inaugural NHL season in 1998-99. Knickle, a former goaltender, played 18 seasons and close to 600 games in the AHL/IHL and 14 games with the Los Angeles Kings from 1992-94. Knickle will replace Keith Gretzky who is moving on to another organization and will be responsible for all amateur scouting and will oversee the NHL Entry Draft for the Coyotes.

In addition, Glen Zacharias joins the Coyotes as a Western amateur scout. Zacharias has over 20 years of scouting experience including eight years with the Tampa Bay Lightning organization. He was with the Lightning franchise when they won the Stanley Cup in 2004. Zacharias will reside in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and will scout all draft eligible players in the Western Hockey League.

Rob Pulford will serve as a U.S. amateur scout for the Coyotes. Pulford comes to the Coyotes organization from Calgary where he worked the last three seasons as a U.S. scout for the Flames. Pulford is based in the Midwest and will scout the USHL and Minnesota High School Leagues for the Coyotes.

Amateur scout David MacLean will now become a pro scout. MacLean has served as an amateur scout with the organization since 2007 and will now cover the Western Conference for the Coyotes.

The Coyotes also announced that Bob Teofilo has been promoted to Hockey Operations Video Coordinator.
