Murphy Suffers Injury at USA Hockey Camp

GLENDALE -- Coyotes' first-round draft pick Connor Murphy has suffered a knee injury at the 2011 USA Hockey National Junior Evaluation Camp In Lake Placid, N.Y.

Murphy soon will come to Phoenix to be examined by the Coyotes' medical staff. Updates on the severity of his injury will be provided in the coming days.

Murphy is one of 29 American players at the camp auditioning for a spot on Team USA's roster for the 2012 IIHF World Junior Championship. 

The Coyotes selected Murphy with the 20th overall pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. He signed an entry-level contract with Phoenix last week.

According to NHL.com, Murphy injured the knee in Wednesday's practice when he collided with goalie John Gibson.
