Coyotes Assign Goncharov to AHL

GLENDALE, ARIZONA – Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have re-assigned defenseman Maxim Goncharov to the Portland Pirates, the Coyotes American Hockey League affiliate.

The 6-foot-3, 216 pound Goncharov was recalled from the Pirates on Monday. He has appeared in 16 games with Portland this season, recording 1-2-3 and 16 penalty minutes. Last season, the 22-year-old native of Moscow, Russia played 61 games with the San Antonio Rampage (AHL), registering 6-9-15 and 65 penalty minutes.

Goncahrov was drafted by the Coyotes in the fifth round (123rd overall) of the 2007 Entry Draft.
