Gormley, Visentin Named to Canada's National Junior Team

GLENDALE, ARIZONA – The Phoenix Coyotes announced today that two of the team’s top prospects, defenseman Brandon Gormley and goaltender Mark Visentin, have been named to Canada’s National Junior Team. The Coyotes along with the Montreal Canadiens (3) and Florida Panthers (2) were the only NHL teams to have more than one prospect selected to the roster.

Gormley
The 6-foot-2, 196-pound Gormley has posted 10-17-27 in 26 games with the Moncton Wildcats (QMJHL) this season. The 19-year-old Gormley, ranks fourth in goals and fifth in points among defensemen in the QMJHL. Gormley was drafted by the Coyotes in the first round (13th overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

Visentin
The 6-foot-2, 195-pound Visentin is one of four returning players for Canada that earned a silver medal at the 2011 IIHF World Junior Championship in Buffalo, N.Y. In 21 games with the Niagara Ice Dogs (OHL) this season, the 19-year-old Visentin is 11-7-2 with a 2.82 goals against average and a .899 save percentage. The reigning OHL Goaltender of the Year also has four shutouts. Visentin was drafted by the Coyotes in the first round (27th overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

The 2012 IIHF World Junior Championship will take place Dec. 26, 2011 to Jan. 5, 2012 in Calgary and Edmonton.
