GLENDALE – Coyotes players, coaches, broadcasters and mascot Howler mingled with fans for several hours on Sunday afternoon inside Jobing.com Arena as part of the 2012 Coyotes Carnival.

Many of the team’s players hosted carnival games such as the ring toss and the milk can gallery. Other players actually played games, such as air hockey, with the fans.

“It’s exciting and it’s always good to see the fans came out,” forward Paul Bissonnette said. “It’s good to talk to our fans about things unrelated to hockey and show them our personalities.”

All proceeds from the carnival will go to Coyotes Charities.

Captain Shane Doan, All-Star defenseman Keith Yandle and leading scorer Ray Whitney signed autographs and posed for pictures for nearly three hours.

The players were stationed around the concourse inside Jobing.com Arena. That allowed other fans to skate on NHL ice and/or take shots at Coyotes goalies Mike Smith and Jason LaBarbera, and Goaltenders Coach Sean Burke.

Young Coyotes fan Cameron Shivers enjoyed the experience of shooting a puck on goal.

“It really was fun because I was shooting on a goalie of the Phoenix Coyotes,” said Cameron, a 10-year-old who slipped his shot by a diving LaBarbera. “(Scoring) made me feel even more excited because I made a goal on an official goalie.”

Cameron’s mother Nadine said she and her son had a good time.

“This is the second time we’ve come to a (Coyotes) Carnival,” she said. “We’d moved away and one thing that drew us back to the Phoenix area was that we missed the area and the Phoenix Coyotes. We’re big fans.”

General Manager Don Maloney, Head coach Dave Tippett and C.O.O. Mike Nealy answered questions from fans during a Town Hall Meeting that was shown on the Jumbotron during the carnival.
