“I'm proud to be a Coyote forever,” Roenick told the sellout crowd. “I don’t know if I deserve this, but I’ll take anything I can get.”

Roenick’s banner was unveiled in the rafters in the northwest corner of the arena, next to former teammate/pal Keith Tkachuk’s.

"Unfortunately, I have to be next to Keith Tkachuk for the rest of my life," Roenick joked.

Earlier in the ceremony, Coyotes President and C.O.O. Mike Nealy presented Roenick with a commemorative watch, and General Manager Don Maloney unveiled Roenick’s Coyotes jersey mounted in a glass case.

Emcee Todd Walsh nearly brought Roenick to tears by presenting him with the specially-designed helmet he wore to protect his fractured jaw in Game 7 vs. St. Louis in the 1999 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Former Roenick teammates Tkachuk, Teppo Numminen, Shane Doan, Rick Tocchet, Greg Adams, Craig Janney and Dallas Drake congratulated Roenick in messages played on the Jumbotron.

Roenick (97) becomes the seventh player to be inducted into the Coyotes Ring of Honor, joining Wayne Gretzky (99), Bobby Hull (9), Thomas Steen (25), Dale Hawerchuk (10), Numminen (27) and Tkachuk (7).

The Coyotes acquired Roenick in 1996 and he went on to play 454 games in Phoenix, collecting 152 goals, 227 assists, 379 points and 596 penalty minutes. In each of his six seasons with the Coyotes, Roenick scored 24 or more goals, and he also had three consecutive seasons of 72 or more points (1998-2001).
